Position Overview We are seeking experienced Steel Fabricators for Hull Fabrication projects involving ship blocks, bulkheads, stiffeners, and other structural components. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cutting, shaping, fitting, and assembling heavy steel components as per shipbuilding drawings and welding specifications. Experience in working at shipyards, docks, or heavy marine fabrication shops is essential. Key Responsibilities Interpret complex hull fabrication drawings, isometric views, and welding details accurately. Fabricate hull structures including shell plating, stiffeners, decks, bulkheads, girders, and brackets. Conduct precise marking, cutting (oxy-fuel/plasma), drilling, and fitting of steel components. Align and prepare components for welding, including tack welding, clamping, and adjusting tolerances. Maintain dimensional accuracy and perform fit-up checks using measuring tools, levels, and templates. Support welders and QA/QC inspectors during joint preparation, inspections, and rectification. Follow safety procedures for working at height, confined spaces, and around heavy equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area, and report any hazards, defects, or material issues. Required Qualifications Education: ITI / Diploma in Fabrication, Mechanical Fitter, or related trades. Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in steel fabrication for shipbuilding, dry docking, or hull block assembly. Experience with structural and outfitting fabrication as per IACS class standards. Technical Skills: Proficient in use of cutting torches, grinders, drills, clamps, measuring tapes, and fabrication tools. Familiar with hull fabrication tolerances, edge preparation, and sequencing of fit-up. Ability to read and execute work based on shipbuilding standards and symbols. Physical Requirement: Able to work in demanding environments—standing, bending, and lifting for long periods. Fit to work in enclosed spaces and on scaffolds (medical clearance if required).
