Senior Specialist, Engineering Quality for Pulp, Energy & Circularity Business Area (based in Chennai, India)

We are looking for “Senior Specialist, Engineering Quality” to be based in Chennai, India. This position reports to “Head, Engineering, India”. In this position you will systematically lead the development and reinforcement of structured engineering quality practices across both internal teams and subcontracted engineering networks in defined location(/s). This work will be anchored in a framework that ensures consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement. Development happens through systematic business process data analysis and visual Operative Key Performance Indicators (OKPI).

In this position, you will be required to,

standardize key engineering business processes and embed these into the Engineering Quality Framework across all networks. The focus on quality ownership and mindset is not only limited to other Valmeteers, it also covers the subcontracting network and used partners (i.e. End-to-End). You need to be able to apply the Lean principles to eliminate waste, streamline workflows and maximize value-add.

As the owner of the business process data and many of our operative KPIs, you have to master the way engineering work is led through data and operative KPIs. Visual metrics and systematic business process data-analysis will help you to guide the improvement activities. Promoting accountability and preventive quality practices will be the basis for the future success.

To succeed this role, you will need:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or other technical field
• A Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification (minimum mandatory requirement)
• Minimum 8 years of exp. in a Business Process Leadership role (other than manufacturing)
• Leading the development by using the global Lean methodology tools like SIPOC, 5-Why, A3, and poka-yoke. Capable of interpreting statistical graphs, distributions etc.
• Exposure on statistical software like Minitab, SPSS and/or JMP
• Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
