Profile: Senior Procurement Executive – Packaging (Pharma)
Reports to: Ops Head
Division: Contract Manufacturing (CDMO & CMO)
Experience: 5+ Years
Location: Mohali, H.O. (Bestech Business Towers)
We are looking to hire a hands-on Sr. Procurement Executive responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and ensuring timely availability of Secondary Packaging Materials (SPM) such as monocartons, outer cartons/master cartons, and labels. Over time, the role will expand to include Primary Packaging Materials (PPM) including bottles, caps, droppers, foils, tubes, and other dosage-form-specific packaging components. This role is critical to ensuring production continuity, cost efficiency, and vendor reliability. This role is specifically suited for professionals currently or previously working in:
Printing presses
Carton / label manufacturing units
Packaging converters (monocartons, labels, corrugation)
Paperboard / duplex / FBB / SBS carton plants

Responsibilities:
Secondary Packaging Procurement (Core Responsibility)
Procurement of monocartons, outer cartons / master cartons, labels
Vendor finalisation based on quality, price, lead time, and reliability
Rate negotiation based on actual cost drivers (GSM, board type, print colors, coating, wastage)
Negotiation of credit periods / payment terms
Issuing POs and following up for on-time dispatch and delivery to plant
Coordination with production, QA, and stores to avoid shortages or line stoppages
Vendor Relationship Management
Develop and maintain strong relationships with approved packaging vendors by making regular vendor visits as required for relationship management and issue resolution
Periodic vendor performance review (price, delivery, rejection rates)
Alternate vendor development to reduce dependency and risk
Resolution of supply issues, delays, or quality concerns
Planning & Coordination
Align procurement with production plans and dispatch schedules
Track incoming PM status and proactively flag delays
Ensure buffer stock for critical items where required
Work closely with internal teams to anticipate upcoming requirements
Future Scope – Primary Packaging Materials (PPM)
Gradual involvement in procurement of: Bottles (PET, HDPE, glass), Caps, droppers, measuring cups, Blister foils (PVC, PVDC, Alu-Alu), Tubes (laminated / aluminum), Other dosage-form-specific PPM, Understanding compatibility with dosage forms (syrups, tablets, capsules, ointments, etc.)
Skills & Qualifications and Preferred Background:
5+ years experience in pharmaceutical packaging procurement or in Packing Material Factory, Printing Press Background
Prior exposure to SPM procurement is mandatory. Experience with PPM procurement is an added advantage
Strong negotiation skills (rates + payment terms)
Vendor coordination and follow-up discipline. Understanding of pharma packaging specifications
Ability to work under production pressure and timelines
Good documentation and follow-up skills. Experience dealing directly with pharma clients
Practical, solution-oriented mindset (not just desk procurement)
Good to Have: Exposure to pharma or FMCG packaging, Understanding of corrugation, lamination, coatings.
