Mechanical Engineer – Production

Location - Jaipur, Bagru
On-site - Day shift

About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer in our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe and cost-effective manufacturing of mechanical components / systems. You will work closely with production, maintenance, design and quality teams to optimise processes, reduce waste, and maintain high production quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Review production processes, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and propose improvements.
• Monitor/manipulate machine, tooling and fixture design or selection to support production volumes and product quality.
• Collaborate with design/engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products (DFM: Design for Manufacturing) and transition from prototype to mass production.
• Work with production planners to ensure machines, manpower and materials are used optimally to meet production schedules and cost targets.
• Troubleshoot mechanical systems, equipment failures, or process deviations on the shop floor and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, time-studies, and maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards in production operations.
• Analyse scrap, defects, downtime, and other key performance indicators (KPIs); drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, process control).
• Manage parts, spares and tooling inventory related to mechanical production equipment; ensure minimal downtime.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, revision/change-overs or upgrades in production environment.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in a manufacturing/production environment (for example 1-5 years for mid-level; more for senior).
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems, tooling, fixtures, machine maintenance, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with CAD/engineering software, ability to read drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), and interpret mechanical schematics.
• Strong problem-solving skills, analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, design, maintenance, quality).
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing, process improvement tools or quality methods is a plus.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar.
• Experience with automation, PLCs, robotics, or industrial control systems.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing, cost reduction initiatives, changeovers.
• Knowledge of materials (plastics, metals, composites), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), DFM/DFM-A (design for manufacturing/assembly) etc. Indeed
