Role Overview
The Senior Interior Designer will lead the creative development, design detailing, and execution of residential and commercial interior projects from concept to completion. This role demands a deep design sensibility, strong project management skills, and the ability to translate client aspirations into elegant, functional, and timeless spaces aligned with the design ethos of VCJ Designs.
Role & Responsibilities
- Concept Development & Design Creation
- Develop design concepts, mood boards, and presentations in alignment with the Principal Designer's vision and project brief.
- Conduct site analysis and space planning to optimise layouts for functionality and aesthetics.
- Select materials, finishes, fabrics, and furnishings that define the visual and tactile identity of the project.
- Ensure that every design embodies VCJ Designs refined, detail-oriented, and contemporary design language.
- Design Detailing & Technical Drawings
- Prepare and review detailed drawings in AutoCAD, including GFC (Good For Construction) sets, joinery details, lighting plans, and material specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants for technical inputs and feasibility.
- Oversee sample approvals and mock-ups to ensure design integrity on-site.
3, Project Coordination & Timelines
- Create project schedules, milestone timelines, and deliverable trackers for each project phase.
- Coordinate seamlessly between the design team, site supervisors, vendors, and clients to ensure timely progress.
- Conduct periodic site visits to monitor execution and ensure design accuracy and finish quality.
- Client & Vendor Interaction
- Lead client presentations, articulate design intent clearly, and manage design revisions based on feedback.
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers for material sourcing, pricing, and procurement timelines.
- Maintain relationships with craftsmen, fabricators, and material partners to ensure consistent quality and innovation.
- Team Leadership & Quality Control
- Guide junior designers and draughtsmen on project tasks, ensuring accuracy and consistency in drawings and presentations.
- Maintain design documentation, material libraries, and finish schedules.
- Ensure that all deliverables adhere to brand standards, deadlines, and quality benchmarks.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture. 5 years of professional experience in residential and commercial interiors (luxury segment preferred).
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and MS Office.
- Excellent understanding of materials, detailing, and on-site execution processes.
- Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously from concept to handover.
- Strong design presentation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to develop timelines, deliverables, and workflow plans independently.
