Position: Senior Engineering Manager - Backend Engineering, Digital Business Purpose: To lead, manage, and scale backend engineering teams responsible for building robust, high-performance, and scalable backend systems that power SonyLIV’s digital streaming platform. This role ensures the delivery of resilient services, high system availability, and seamless viewer experiences, while fostering technical innovation and engineering excellence. Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline from a reputed institution Experience: 12+ years of backend development experience. Desirable experience: Hands-on with scalable backend systems, cloud platforms, and modern backend stacks (Node.js, No/SQL, REDIS, Kafka). Position Interlinkages: Within the organization - Product, Frontend Engineering, DevOps, QA, Data Engineering, Security Outside the organization - Tech vendors, cloud providers, external consultants, open-source communities Location: Bangalore (No Remote) Reporting Relationship: AVP/ Sr.EM, Backend Engineering, Digital Business Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor backend engineering teams through project planning, execution, code reviews, and performance evaluations. Architect scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems supporting SonyLIV’s platform. Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Ensure engineering best practices in coding, testing, and deployment. Drive initiatives to improve system reliability, observability, and incident management. Oversee hiring, onboarding, and skill development within the team. Contribute to strategic technology decisions and roadmap planning. Maintain strong focus on system security, data integrity, and user privacy.
