- Interact with US clients to understand and gather project requirements.
- Lead design & development of medium voltage protection and switchgear product/ sub-system design as per the requirements.
- Research, review, and implement best practices, new and emerging technologies, and design patents for new and existing development.
- Generate conceptual 3D design, engineering calculations and detailed design for extensive range of electro-mechanical products using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks’.
- Converting the ideas into practically feasible product-oriented design.
- Validate conceptual design integrity using FEA analysis.
- Deliver complete and accurate detailed design drawings as required for part manufacturing with GD&T.
- Create Drawings based on ASME Y14.5M – 1994 standards.
- Generate documentation including design spec, DFMEA, part drawings, engineering bill of materials and assembly drawing per Hubbell standard.
- Good understanding of IEEE standards and experience in creating the type test plan.
- Experience in conducting the type test with external laboratories.
- Support manufacturing team in defining the product manufacturing process flow, PFMEA, control plan and with new tooling validation.
- Driving the project from scoping phase to launch phase.
- Working knowledge in vault, windchill and SAP is required.
- Knowledge of DFM and DFA is an added advantage.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Hands on experience in designing fault interrupting products such as VCB/ACB or recloser or circuit breaker (any one preferred).
- Sound knowledge in designing medium voltage disconnecting switches and load breaking air insulated or gas insulated switchgears.
- Hands on experience in designing latching and actuating mechanisms for VCB/ACB/recloser/capacitor switches (any one preferred).
- Knowledge in arc plasma physics and its interruption.
- Knowledge in electro-mechanical and electro-magnetic assemblies.
- Basic knowledge in magnetics design & selection of electro-mechanical actuators like solenoids & Ct’s or transformers.
- Hand on experience in short circuit test, di-electric testing, short time withstand current test and its result interpretation.
- Working knowledge in any one PDM and PLM software’s.
- Proficient in creating Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) as well as fabrication drawings using Inventor and SolidWorks.
- Proficient in sheet metals, castings and plastic design and its manufacturing process.
