Job Description

Ameriprise Financial is seeking a Business Analyst to join our Reporting & Data Solutions team in India. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining reporting tools, identifying opportunities for improvement, and partnering with technology and business stakeholders to enhance data accessibility and insights. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and Power BI skills, along with a solid understanding of business processes and a passion for data-driven problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop reporting solutions using Power BI, Excel, and other available tools to meet evolving business needs.
  • Create use cases and functional documentation to support technology builds, requiring both product and technical expertise.
  • Identify and recommend improvements across business processes and technical infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to influence how data is structured and exposed for consumption, ensuring alignment with analytics and reporting needs.
  • Maintain and enhance the existing landscape of reports and dashboards to support ongoing business operations.
  • Reconcile reports and respond to ad-hoc data requests with accuracy and timeliness.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics, Power BI development, and data visualization.
  • Strong SQL skills (e.g., SQL Server, Postgres).
  • Proficiency in Power BI, including Power Query and DAX.
  • Solid understanding of business processes and experience working with cross-functional and technology teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience with Excel-based reporting and dashboarding.
  • Experience with Mortgage reporting and mortgage data a plus
  • Familiarity with data governance and quality assurance practices.
