Role Overview

The Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) Technical Lead is responsible for leading the design, architecture, and technical implementation of complex SFCC solutions. This role oversees a team of developers, ensuring high-quality code delivery, scalable architecture, and best practices across all Commerce Cloud projects. The Technical Lead acts as a trusted technical advisor, collaborating with business stakeholders, solution architects, and project managers to deliver enterprise-grade digital commerce experiences that align with client objectives and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation of Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) projects (B2C and B2B).
  • Define coding standards, best practices, and deployment guidelines for the development team.
  • Ensure all technical solutions are aligned with Salesforce Commerce Cloud architecture, performance, and security requirements.
  • Review and validate solution designs, technical specifications, and integrations with other systems (CRM, ERP, OMS, and payment gateways).
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality, maintainable code delivery.

Development & Integration

  • Provide hands-on development support using SFCC Script (controllers, models, pipelines, and ISML) and related backend technologies.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of custom cartridges, REST APIs, and third-party integrations (tax, payment, shipping, CRM, analytics, etc.).
  • Manage integration efforts with frontend frameworks, ensuring seamless coordination between backend and UI components.
  • Optimize site performance, scalability, and maintainability across environments.

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, solution architects, and business stakeholders to define scope, estimate effort, and plan sprints.
  • Translate business requirements into technical deliverables and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Oversee deployment pipelines, version control processes, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Ensure projects adhere to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Team Mentorship & Guidance

  • Mentor and coach SFCC developers, providing guidance on complex technical challenges.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing, training sessions, and peer learning initiatives.
  • Support performance reviews, skill development, and continuous improvement within the development team.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on Salesforce Commerce Cloud innovations, emerging eCommerce technologies, and architectural trends.
  • Proactively recommend process optimizations, new tools, and automation to improve delivery efficiency.
  • Evaluate new features and provide proof-of-concept implementations when appropriate.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Technical Experience:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience
    in Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) development, with at least 2+ years in a technical lead or architect role.
  • Certified Commerce Cloud Developer (DiD/CIP) or SFCC Architect certification required.
  • Proven experience in end-to-end SFCC implementations (B2C and B2B), including multi-site and multi-region deployments.
  • Deep understanding of SFRA framework, Demandware Script, and Headless Commerce (API-led) architectures.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, and server-side scripting.
  • Experience integrating with CRM, OMS, ERP, and third-party APIs.
  • Solid understanding of cloud deployment models, CI/CD, and version control using Git.
  • Familiarity with UX Studio, Business Manager, and tagging/testing tools.
