Job Role: Engineer Safety Job Role ID: SECTION I: BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE JOB ROLE Job Role Variant: Sr. Engineer Safety Manager Job Position: Lead Safety Job Position ID Job Family: Asset Operations Grade/Level: HSEF Value Stream: Safety Sub-Job Family: Location SECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To execute all safety related policies at the Site, with the objective to identify, resolve/ mitigate or escalate key risks as per overall safety policies, regulations & standards. List of responsibilities attached to the role are documented below. These responsibilities are representative and the role holder is also responsible for any other job assigned by the superior authorities from time to time. This section in not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all activities done by the role holder. It should capture only the key responsibilities of the role. SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE Responsibilities Policies, Processes and Procedures Follow established safety policies, processes, standard operating procedures and provide support in the interpretation and implementation of safety related policies to the line management Assist in the implementation of new initiatives/ projects as per the established policies to meet the future requirements of the site Participate in the first and third-party health and safety audit systems for their designated area/ plant, in collaboration with Lead Safety Participate in external industry bodies, trade association, global forums and keep self abreast with leading practices and trends in order to contribute towards continuous improvement of systems, processes and procedures Operations Conduct and analyse safety observations at their designated area/ plant and suggest actions to modify behaviours Maintain log book, occurrence book and other shift related documentation to ensure adherence to safety compliances Carryout investigation of all safety related incidents at their designated area/ plant, conduct root cause analysis and identify action plans to avert such future incidents Participate in risk management programs such as control measures identification, incident investigation, etc. to manage key risks at their designated area/ plant Create MIS reports, safety updates, findings, and performance indices to the area/ plant management so as to ensure awareness towards health and safety Track the leading and lagging safety metrics for their designated area/ plant and drive suggested improvement initiatives Prepare training modules/ programs and organize safety awareness training to safety executive/ their designated site employees to enhance awareness/ capability pertaining to safety Conduct/ Review Nearmiss Analysis and propose actions to Line Management on focus area/improvement actions Steer and co-ordinate for effective Plant level safety committee meetings Metrics that are used to evaluate the success / performance of the role; specific targets do not need to be included as those would change from Y-o-Y SECTION IV: SUCCESS METRICS (TOP 3-5 KPI's) Employee satisfaction scores for safety policies # of reportable injuries # of Penalties due to non-compliance % safety training completion Emergency Response time Safety audit score Key Interactions Internal: S&OR, Site Teams, HR, Finance, etc. External: Auditors, Government Agencies, Consultants, etc. Key interactions which are essential to execute the role. This will include both internal and external stakeholders SECTION V: OPERATING NETWORK Minimum qualification, technical competencies and capabilities which are essential to execute the role. It may not be a reflection of job holder's own qualification and competencies SECTION VI: KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES Education Qualifications: Bachelors in Engineering/ Science in Mechanical/ Chemical/ Instrumentation/ Chemistry Experience (Must Have & Good to Have): 3-7 years of experience in process industry site operations/ maintenance with 2-3 years of experience of handling HSE FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES Knowledge of safety related compliances Technical understanding of operations Regulations and Legal compliance HSE Assurance Risk Management Framework Fire Safety Management HSE Incident Investigation Feeder Roles Engineer Safety Possible Next Role Movement: Lead Safety SECTION VII: CAREER MOVEMENTS Show more Show less
