Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Safety Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and assess workplace hazards. Perform audits of safety practices to ensure compliance with relevant safety laws and internal procedures. Document findings and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly. Risk Assessment: Analyze potential risks in the workplace and recommend necessary steps to mitigate those risks. Ensure all risk assessments are updated regularly and communicated to all employees. Training and Awareness: Conduct safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors on various safety protocols. Develop and deliver safety awareness programs that encourage safe work behaviors. Ensure that employees are well-versed in emergency response procedures and the use of safety equipment. Accident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses to identify the root causes. Prepare reports on findings and recommend measures to prevent future incidents. Maintain accurate records of accidents and safety incidents as required by law. Safety Equipment and Emergency Procedures: Ensure that safety equipment (PPE, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, etc.) is available, functional, and properly maintained. Develop and oversee emergency response plans for situations such as fires, natural disasters, or workplace accidents. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) laws, regulations, and standards. Stay updated on the latest safety legislation and best practices. Liaise with government agencies and safety bodies as needed to maintain compliance. Reporting: Prepare and present regular safety reports to senior management, highlighting safety performance, areas of concern, and corrective actions taken. Track safety performance indicators and KPIs to evaluate and improve safety practices. Safety Culture Promotion: Encourage and promote a culture of safety within the organization. Work closely with management and employees to foster a proactive approach to workplace safety. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Certification in occupational safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) preferred. Previous experience in safety management or a related field is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of safety laws and regulations. Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
