Job Description

The Research & Development Manager will be a senior member of the management team responsible for leading and managing the Research & Development Team within the Research, Development, and Innovation function of the company. You will collaborate closely with various cross-functional departmental managers, particularly Scientific, Clinical & Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Departments. Your role will encompass overseeing the internal product development pipeline, managing project-specific implementation, and providing technical support to departments such as Regulatory Affairs and Quality. A key aspect of this position is the development project planning and strategy execution across multiple approved company projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints. You will work closely with the Scientific, Clinical, and Medical Affairs Department as projects progress from conceptualization to development. Promoting a culture of innovation within the Research, Development, and Innovation Department and across the business will also be a pivotal responsibility. The company, a fully integrated healthcare organization, conducts manufacturing activities through a network of contract manufacturers while research and development are facilitated by third parties and an in-house R&D lab managed by Kora healthcare. The product portfolio includes medicines, medical devices, foods for special medical purposes, and food supplements. Key areas of responsibility for this role include: - Project Management: Setting project direction, goals, and milestones to meet corporate objectives, overseeing project budgets, managing stakeholders and third-party activities, and ensuring timely project delivery. - Product Development: Sourcing and evaluating contract developers/manufacturers, leading product development activities, defining formulations and manufacturing processes, managing stability programs, and preparing necessary R&D documentation. - Innovation and Forward Thinking: Conducting market research, reviewing competitor products and technologies, leading new ideas and innovation meetings, and supporting the assessment of new ideas and intellectual property. - People Management: Motivating direct reports, setting development objectives, driving innovation initiatives, and empowering associates to achieve continuous improvement. Requirements for this role include: - Masters level / PhD in Chemistry, pharmacy. - 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry. - Experience in scale-up manufacturing and knowledge of gel and dry granulation technologies. - Strong Project Management and risk management skills. - Proficiency in Intellectual Property processes and compliance standards. - Excellent organizational, report writing, and communication skills. - Self-motivated, accountable, and detail-oriented with a proactive approach to compliance. - Proficiency in English with willingness to travel (approx. 10%).
