Regional Legal Manager

Litigation Management

Handle and monitor all litigation cases related to recovery, arbitration, civil, criminal, and regulatory matters within the region.

Draft, review, and vet legal notices, petitions, affidavits, replies, and other legal documents.

Coordinate with external advocates for filing cases, attending court hearings, and ensuring timely updates.

Maintain a robust tracker for all ongoing litigations and ensure adherence to TATs.

2. Legal Advisory & Risk Mitigation

Provide legal opinion and guidance to business, collections, operations, and branch teams on regional legal issues.

Identify legal risks and recommend corrective actions to minimize exposure.

Support teams in decision-making related to settlement, compromise, and legal recovery routes.

3. Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with RBI/NBFC regulations relevant to legal processes.

Conduct periodic audits of legal documents, recovery procedures, and advocate performance.

Ensure proper documentation and safe custody of legal files, court orders, and case records.

4. Advocate & Vendor Management

Empanel competent advocates, valuers, and legal vendors in line with company policy.

Evaluate and monitor advocate performance periodically.

Negotiate commercial terms and ensure cost efficiency in litigation expenses.

5. Coordination with Internal Stakeholders

Liaise with collections, operations, underwriting, and business teams for case inputs, document submission, and follow-up on legal actions.

Provide training and awareness to field teams on legal processes, including SARFAESI, arbitration, and recovery laws.

6. Reporting & MIS

Prepare regular litigation MIS and present updates to Regional/Zonal/Corporate Legal Teams.

Report critical legal issues, high-value cases, and adverse orders immediately.

Qualifications & Experience:

LL.B / LL.M from a reputed institution. 3-5 years of experience in litigation management, preferably in NBFC/BFSI.

Strong knowledge of recovery laws, arbitration, criminal & civil procedures, and regulatory compliance.

Experience in handling advocates, drafting legal documents, and representing the organization in legal matters.
