Job Description

About The Opportunity

A deep‑tech organisation in the quantum computing hardware and quantum sensing sector developing next‑generation superconducting qubit platforms and scalable quantum devices for commercial systems. The team converts physics‑driven device concepts into repeatable, manufacturable hardware and measurement workflows to deliver high‑fidelity qubits and robust cryogenic performance. This role is located in Bengaluru and is a full‑time researcher position focused on theoretical and computational device modelling.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate quantum‑mechanical models (Hamiltonians) for coupled superconducting qubit circuits to predict coherence, coupling and leakage channels.
  • Perform large‑scale numerical simulations of device properties and time‑domain dynamics using open‑source and commercial tools to guide design tradeoffs.
  • Design and optimise error‑mitigation and quantum error‑correction schemes (including bosonic codes) tailored to device physics and control constraints.
  • Collaborate with processor design and experimental teams to translate simulation results into device geometries, DoE plans and control pulse sequences.
  • Define metrics and protocols for device characterisation — coherence times, gate fidelities, tomography — and analyse measurement data to recommend improvements.
  • Document methods and results in technical reports and contribute to peer‑reviewed publications and internal design reviews.

Skills & Qualifications

Must‑Have (technical skills)
  • Hamiltonian engineering
  • Circuit QED
  • Superconducting qubits
  • Quantum error correction
  • Numerical simulation tools (QuTiP, finite‑element solvers)
  • Cryogenic measurement systems

Qualifications

  • MSc/M.Tech or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field with focus on quantum mechanics/quantum devices.
  • Proven track record of device modelling and numerical simulation; publications or technical reports in quantum technology preferred.
  • Strong programming ability in Python; experience with MATLAB/Julia/C++ for scientific computing.
  • Experience defining DoE, analysing measurement data and producing actionable improvement plans for experimental campaigns.

Preferred

  • Experience with HFSS or COMSOL for electromagnetic and parasitic mode simulations.
  • Familiarity with bosonic codes, autonomous error correction or continuous‑variable encodings.
  • Prior hands‑on exposure to dilution‑refrigerator measurement setups and qubit control stacks.

Benefits & Culture Highlights

  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of condensed matter physics and scalable quantum engineering.
  • Collaborative, publication‑focused R&D environment with access to experimental teams and compute resources.
  • Competitive compensation and professional development support for conferences and peer‑reviewed research.
Skills: numerical methods,quantum computing,experimental protocols,superconducting-qubit error-correction schemes,circuit qed,hamiltonian engineering,semiconductor,computational modelling of quantum circuits,quantum-state & process tomography,python-based quantum platforms,qubit-control schemes,artificial intelligence
