About The Opportunity

A deep‑tech company operating in the quantum computing hardware and quantum sensing sector, focused on developing and maturing next‑generation quantum devices and scalable qubit platforms for commercial systems. The team translates physics-driven device concepts into repeatable, manufacturable hardware and measurement workflows that deliver high‑fidelity qubits and robust cryogenic performance.

Quantum Hardware Research Scientist

India — On‑site positionRole & Responsibilities
  • Design, fabricate, and characterise quantum devices (e.g., superconducting qubits, spin qubits, resonators) from concept to measured performance in a cryogenic environment.
  • Develop and execute low‑temperature measurement campaigns: fridge setup, microwave/RF chains, wiring, filtering, and automated data acquisition.
  • Analyse device behaviour using data‑driven techniques (Python/MATLAB), extract coherence, relaxation, and error budgets, and iterate designs to improve fidelity and yield.
  • Collaborate with fabrication and process engineers in the cleanroom to define mask layouts, lithography flows, thin film deposition, and etch processes that meet device specifications.
  • Create and maintain reproducible test procedures, instrumentation control scripts (e.g., Python, LabVIEW), and documentation to scale experiments across multiple devices.
  • Contribute to roadmaps for device optimisation, participate in cross‑functional reviews, and mentor junior researchers on experimental best practices.

Skills & Qualifications

Must‑Have

  • Master’s or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field with 2+ years of hands‑on experimental quantum device work.
  • Practical experience with cryogenic measurement systems (dilution refrigerators) and low‑noise microwave/RF measurement chains.
  • Proven track record in device characterisation: coherence (T1/T2), spectroscopy, time‑domain control, and readout for qubits or resonators.

Preferred

  • Cleanroom fabrication experience (lithography, deposition, etch) or close collaboration history with fabrication teams.
  • Strong programming skills for measurement automation and analysis (Python preferred; MATLAB, LabVIEW a plus) and familiarity with version control and experiment logging.
