Assistant Manager - Quality Coimbatore, North America Business Roles & Responsibilities - Conduct supplier audits (process/product audits) focusing on die casting and machining capabilities. Evaluate and qualify new suppliers using APQP/PPAP methodologies. Monitor and improve supplier performance using KPIs (PPM, delivery, NCR, etc.). Ensure suppliers comply with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier-related quality issues (8D, 5Why, Ishikawa). Oversee incoming quality inspection protocols for die cast and machined components. Collaborate with design, production, and procurement teams to ensure quality standards in new product development. Review and approve supplier PPAPs, FMEAs, and control plans. Provide technical support in die casting defects (e.g., porosity, shrinkage) and machining issues (e.g., tolerances, surface finish). Work with suppliers to optimize process controls and reduce variability. Implement supplier improvement plans and monitor progress. Support cost reduction initiatives through quality and process improvements at supplier locations. EXPERTISE AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. 6 to 8 years of experience in supplier quality, with significant exposure to die casting and machining processes. Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, and problem-solving tools. Proficiency in using quality tools like CMM, height gauge, surface testers, etc. Experience with automotive standards (IATF 16949, VDA 6.3) is highly preferred. Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Willingness to travel to supplier locations as needed.
