QA/Test Developer

Introduction

• The Business Automation Performance team is responsible for designing, implementing, executing, and analyzing workloads and benchmarks to ensure that Business Automation software meets customer expectations for performance.
• A significant part of the role involves developing and maintaining automation infrastructure using Ansible, shell scripting, and Linux system administration to support continuous regression testing. This includes working with Elasticsearch and Kibana for result data storage and visualization, as well as contributing to Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and benchmark development in Java and Selenium.
  

Your Role And Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain test and environment setup automation using Ansible and shell scripting to support continuous performance testing.
• Design and implement benchmark scenarios in Java and Selenium, run workloads and conduct measurements
• Set up and configure IBM Business Automation Workflow software components in containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker, Openshift, Rancher, Tanzu)
• Collect and manage performance test results in Elasticsearch and create insightful Kibana dashboards for visualization and reporting.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins to automate performance tests.
• Analyze performance data to identify bottlenecks, provide actionable insights and guide development teams on improvements.
• Collaborate with global teams to improve system performance across the software stack.
• Develop and prototype proof-of-concept solutions to improve performance and drive innovation.
• Engage in Level 3 customer support for performance troubleshooting and analysis.
• Document work and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
  

Preferred Education

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in Performance QA
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills for complex, multi-tiered software systems.
• Independent way of working, being able to quickly and autonomously gather necessary knowledge to complete challenging tasks on time.
• Strong practical experience in Java, Bash, and Ansible.
• Solid experience with Linux systems, including scripting and administration.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Familiarity with containerized environments (Kubernetes), Java application servers (e.g. IBM WAS, Liberty), and databases (IBM Db2, Postgres).
• Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana for data analysis and visualization.
• Basic understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
  

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Experience in performance testing and performance analysis of enterprise applications and systems.
• Experience in developing and maintaining performance benchmarks with Java and Selenium.
• Familiarity with networking concepts and the OSI model.
• Fluent in container technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, Rancher, Tanzu
• Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems and workflows.
• Interest in DevOps practices, automation, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience with monitoring tools or basic system troubleshooting.
• Participation in open-source or university DevOps projects.
