About Quin

Quin is redefining smart safety with real-time event detection and data-driven response systems that save lives. We embed our proprietary technology into helmets and wearables through B2B partnerships with global brands. With a strong foothold in motorcycling and a strategic focus on cycling and industrial safety, our technology is already trusted by top names across the U.S. and Europe. We are a fast-moving, purpose-driven team building industry-leading technology that brings intelligence into safety gear. Every product we ship has a tangible impact, and every engineer at Quin has the opportunity to shape technology that protects lives.

Why Quin?

  • Own Product Quality: Be responsible for the complete user experience across hardware, firmware, and mobile apps. Your testing ensures everything works together seamlessly.
  • Broad Technical Scope: Work across the full IoT stack, test hardware reliability, validate BLE connectivity, verify mobile apps, and ensure end-to-end workflows work flawlessly.
  • Prevent Issues, Don't Just Find Them: Build test automation, define quality processes, and work with teams to build quality in from the start. Strategic quality engineering.
  • Critical Role: In safety-critical products, QA isn't optional, it's essential. Your work directly impacts whether our technology works reliably when lives depend on it.

Mission

Assure end-to-end reliability across our hardware, firmware, and mobile app ecosystem through comprehensive testing, automation, and quality engineering.

About The Role

  • We are looking for a QA Engineer with 2–4 years of experience to own quality assurance for our complete IoT product ecosystem. You will test hardware reliability, firmware functionality, BLE connectivity, mobile apps (iOS and Android), and end-to-end user workflows.
  • You will develop test strategies, create automation frameworks, execute manual testing, analyze issues, and ensure our products meet the highest quality standards. This role requires both technical depth and breadth across hardware, firmware, and software.
  • This position is ideal for detail-oriented engineers who understand the full IoT stack, are passionate about quality, and want to work on safety-critical applications where quality truly matters.
  • If you love finding edge cases, building automation, and ensuring products work flawlessly, join our quality engineering team.

What You'll Do

At Quin, this isn't just a job, it's a mission. Here's how you'll make an impact:
  • Develop Comprehensive Test Strategies: Create test plans covering hardware reliability, firmware functionality, BLE connectivity, mobile apps, cloud backend, and end-to-end workflows. Define what good looks like.
  • Execute Hardware Reliability Testing: Run drop tests, crash simulations, environmental testing (temperature, humidity, vibration), and durability validation. Ensure hardware withstands real-world abuse.
  • Validate BLE Connectivity: Test BLE pairing, bonding, data transfer, reconnection, and error handling across various mobile devices, OS versions, and RF environments. Build comprehensive BLE test matrices.
  • Test Mobile Applications: Execute functional, usability, performance, and compatibility testing for iOS and Android apps. Test across device models, OS versions, and configurations.
  • Build Test Automation: Create automated test scripts for regression testing, API validation, and continuous integration. Use frameworks like Appium, Espresso, XCTest, or custom solutions.
  • Design Real-World Test Scenarios: Create field tests simulating actual riding conditions and use cases. Validate system behavior in real environments, not just controlled labs.
  • Track and Analyze Issues: Document bugs clearly with reproduction steps, screenshots, logs, and videos. Track defects through resolution, verify fixes, and analyze defect trends.
  • Collaborate with Development: Work closely with firmware, hardware, and mobile app teams to understand features, provide early feedback, and ensure quality is built in throughout development.
  • Establish Quality Metrics: Define quality KPIs, track test coverage, monitor defect metrics, and provide visibility into product quality. Drive continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of QA engineering experience testing hardware and software products
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience testing both hardware products and mobile applications
  • Strong understanding of BLE protocols, IoT systems, and device-app-cloud architecture
  • Hands-on experience with mobile app testing on iOS and Android platforms
  • Proficiency with test automation tools and frameworks (Appium, Selenium, Espresso, XCTest)
  • Experience with bug tracking systems (Jira, Linear, Bugzilla) and test management tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

Good to Have

  • IoT QA experience testing wearable devices, smart home products, or connected hardware
  • Experience with safety-critical or medical device testing and validation
  • Knowledge of test automation frameworks and CI/CD integration (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Proficiency with scripting languages for test automation (Python, JavaScript)
  • Experience with performance testing, load testing, and test data analysis
  • Understanding of hardware reliability testing standards and methodologies
  • Familiarity with API testing tools (Postman, REST-assured) and backend testing
  • Experience with BLE packet sniffers, protocol analyzers, and wireless debugging tools

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Broad Impact: Own quality across the full product stack, hardware, firmware, BLE, mobile apps, and cloud. See the complete picture.
  • Challenging Problems: Test IoT reliability, BLE edge cases, mobile app compatibility, solve real, interesting QA challenges.
  • Build Automation: Create test frameworks that provide lasting value. Move beyond manual testing to strategic quality engineering.
  • Direct Influence: Work closely with development teams. Provide feedback early. Influence design decisions to improve quality.
  • See Results: Watch product quality improve based on your testing, automation, and feedback. See fewer field issues because of your work.
  • Safety-Critical Mission: Know that your thoroughness directly contributes to product reliability and user safety.

Your Impact

You validate that our entire system works flawlessly together, from the device on someone's helmet to the BLE connection to their phone to the emergency alert reaching their contacts. Your comprehensive testing ensures users can trust our products when their safety depends on it. You're the final guardian of quality before products reach riders.
