Job Description

1. Role Overview

Production Head – 2 Wheelers


2. Key Responsibilities

A. Production Planning & Execution

  • Plan and execute

    daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules

    based on confirmed customer orders and sales forecasts.
  • Coordinate with

    Stores and Procurement

    to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and assemblies.
  • Monitor production targets and ensure

    achievements vs. plan

    with minimal delays or bottlenecks.
  • Maintain and share

    daily production reports

    and variance analysis with the Business Head – 2 Wheelers.

B. Material Management

  • Raise

    raw material and component requisitions

    as per approved production plans.
  • Ensure

    optimal utilization of materials

    to minimize wastage and rework.
  • Coordinate closely with the

    Stores team

    for timely issue, tracking, and return of materials.
  • Support implementation of basic

    inventory control systems

    (minimum/maximum stock levels for critical items).

C. Assembly & Operations Management

  • Supervise and manage

    all assembly operations

    on the 2-wheeler shop floor.
  • Ensure that all teams follow

    standard operating procedures (SOPs)

    and defined work instructions.
  • Work with

    Maintenance

    to minimize machine/tool downtime through preventive maintenance planning.
  • Ensure safe, clean, and organized workstations in line with

    5S and safety practices

    .

D. Quality Control

  • Ensure

    in-line and final quality inspection

    for all units produced.
  • Drive adherence to

    company quality standards

    and statutory / compliance norms.
  • Work jointly with the

    Quality Control (QC) team

    to identify root causes of defects, rejections, or returns.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to continually

    improve first-time-right quality

    .

E. Dispatch & Coordination

  • Coordinate with

    Sales, Commercial, and Logistics

    teams for timely dispatch of finished vehicles as per

    purchase orders and dispatch plans

    .
  • Monitor

    packaging, labelling, and documentation

    (including gate passes, invoices, and delivery notes) to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure that production and dispatch are aligned so that

    customer commitments and deadlines are consistently met

    .

F. Team Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead, train, and motivate the

    production and assembly workforce

    to achieve daily and monthly targets.
  • Build a culture of

    discipline, safety, teamwork, and accountability

    on the shop floor.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend

    training / upskilling

    programs for the team.
  • Submit

    daily / weekly production performance reports

    and highlight issues proactively to the Business Head – 2 Wheelers.


3. Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical understanding of

    2-wheeler / EV assembly processes

    .
  • Proven experience in

    leading production teams

    and managing shop floor operations.
  • Good knowledge of

    material planning, inventory management, and basic cost control

    .
  • Familiarity with

    quality systems, inspection methods, and process improvement tools

    .
  • Strong

    people management, communication, and coordination

    skills.
  • Proficiency in

    MS Excel, production reporting

    , and preferably basic

    ERP / MIS tools

    .

4. Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:

    B.Tech / B.E. or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automobile Engineering.
  • Experience:

    Minimum

    8–10 years

    in 2-wheeler / automotive / EV manufacturing, with at least

    3–5 years in a supervisory or production lead role

    .

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Daily and monthly

    production achievement vs. plan

    .
  • Material utilization efficiency

    and wastage levels.
  • Quality metrics

    – rejection rate, rework percentage, and field complaint reduction.
  • On-time dispatch

    performance against customer and sales commitments.
  • Productivity and efficiency

    of the production and assembly teams.
