The Role
The
Product Manager
at Level 5A will play a strategic role in owning and driving the product roadmap and delivery for key technology initiatives at Hapag-Lloyd Technology Center. With deep expertise in Java technologies and enterprise architecture, the role demands a blend of strong technical acumen, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.The ideal candidate brings 7–15 years of experience, demonstrating ownership of product vision, heartbeat planning, stakeholder alignment, and successful execution of end-to-end product deliveries in a global environment. This role requires an ability to work across teams, align product outcomes with business goals, and coach teams toward continuous delivery and excellence.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Product Ownership & Strategy
- Define and own the product roadmap and product vision aligned with organizational goals.
- Drive prioritization through heartbeat planning, value-based delivery, and agile execution.
- Act as the voice of the customer and ensure continuous alignment with business stakeholders.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, QA, architecture, business, and leadership teams in Chennai and Hamburg.
- Facilitate regular reviews and feedback sessions with stakeholders.
- Ensure timely, transparent communication and expectation management across all levels.
Technical Leadership
- Demonstrate high-level conceptual understanding of technologies such as Java, JPA, Kafka, Microservices, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and JUnit.
- Support the team in system design (HLD), ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Product Delivery & Planning
- Drive and track product heartbeat cycles, team capacity planning, and delivery timelines.
- Ensure quality, timely delivery of features, enhancements, and fixes with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Oversee FIS3 application development and integration with enterprise systems.
Team & People Management
- Manage and mentor engineering teams to deliver on product goals.
- Handle resource planning, team health, and performance tracking.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and coaching.

Work Experience:
- 7–15 years of IT experience, with at least 5+ years in a Product/ Engineering Management role or strong Business Analysis Background
- Proven experience in delivering enterprise-scale applications (FIS3 or similar)
- Deep experience in agile delivery and heartbeat/product cycle planning
- Hands-on experience in mentoring technical teams and leading cross-functional collaboration
Technical Skills
Conceptual understanding only:
