Department: Modelling Location: Gurugram, India Description Internal Title for this role will be (Senior) Energy Modeller This is a unique international opportunity for a professional seeking to build their career in the energy sector to join our Asia-Pacific region as a (Senior) Energy Modeller. Aurora's modelling team create and maintain the energy models that underpin our subscription analytics, advisory, and software offerings. Our services are widely used by leading energy companies and investors. Successful candidates will work in a dynamic, stimulating, and demanding yet supportive environment. They will contribute to our energy modelling efforts by combining energy market knowledge with state-of-the-art optimization techniques. They will be given responsibility to lead model development projects and provide supervision and guidance to junior colleagues. The position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in at least two of the following areas: Software development Optimisation or other quantitative modelling techniques Energy Market forecasting Power flow modelling The successful candidate will combine technical ability with a strong track record of leadership and dependable performance in team-oriented environments. Key Responsibilities Lead the implementation of modelling techniques to capture complex real-world issues within our models. Contribute to continuously improving how the modelling team operates Support the development of junior colleagues. As a (Senior) Energy Modeller you will be an expert in either the development or configuration of Aurora's modelling software, with some of the following specialist responsibilities: Applying expert knowledge of power markets to design new modelling approaches Working closely with Aurora's Subscription Analytics and Advisory teams to deliver key market insights Delivering Aurora's power flow models as robust, high-quality software for internal and external clients Advancing the use of software design best practice within the modelling team What we are looking for Required attributes: At least 3 to 5 years of experience in developing models or software in a commercial environment. Relevant degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other quantitative field from a top university. Knowledge of one programming language, e.g. Python, Matlab, C++,R, Java. Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical ability. Deep interest in energy and/or decarbonization. Strong interpersonal skills, and a great team player. Desirable attributes: Experience in the field of mathematical optimization Relevant PhD Line management experience Expert experience with Python Familiarity in software engineering best practice (version control, automatic testing, writing modular code) Experience of developing Energy market models and / or Power market models.
