Job Title: Power BI Tester (Power BI, Automation & DAX Validation)
Experience: 10+ YearsDomain Expertise: Property and Casualty InsuranceProfessional SummaryExperienced Power BI Tester with over 10 years of expertise in validating business intelligence solutions within the insurance domain. Specializes in automation testing of Power BI dashboards, DAX expressions, and data pipelines deployed on AWS cloud infrastructure. Ensures accuracy, performance, and reliability of reports used for critical decision-making across claims, underwriting, and policy analytics.Core CompetenciesBI Testing & AutomationDevelops and executes automated test cases for Power BI dashboards and reports using tools like Selenium, BI Validator, and REST APIs.Performs regression, performance, and stress testing across AWS-hosted environments (Dev, QA, Pre-Prod, Prod).Validates report visuals, filters, slicers, bookmarks, and row-level security (RLS).DAX Query ValidationWrites and validates DAX expressions to ensure accurate aggregations, calculations, and business logic.Uses tools like DAX Studio and Wiiisdom for automated DAX testing and semantic model validation.Implements test cases for key insurance metrics (e.g., claims paid, policy lapse rates) using representative filter contexts.SQL & Data ValidationPerforms backend data validation using SQL to ensure consistency between AWS-hosted source systems and Power BI reports.Validates data transformations, joins, and aggregations across multiple layers including Redshift, RDS, and S3.AWS Cloud Integration TestingTests data flows and integrations across AWS services such as S3, Glue, Redshift, and Lambda.Validates Power BI connectivity and refresh schedules for cloud-based datasets.Ensures secure and optimized data pipelines in alignment with AWS best practices.Agile Delivery & CollaborationWorks in Agile teams, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.Uses JIRA for defect tracking, test case management, and reporting.Collaborates with BI developers, data engineers, and business analysts to define test strategies and acceptance criteria.Nice-to-Have SkillsProperty and Casualty Insurance domain knowledgePython scripting for automation and data profilingFamiliarity with Databricks Lakehouse architectureExperience with Power Query and Power BI Service lifecycle management
