Job Title: Plant Head Herbal Manufacturing

Job Summary:

Plant Head

Key Responsibilities:

Operational & Production Management

  • Manage overall plant activities including manufacturing, packaging, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement monthly and annual production plans ensuring timely delivery and adherence to targets.
  • Achieve production goals with zero quality deviations and full cGMP compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure efficient consumption of raw materials and packing materials with optimal yield.

Planning & Resource Optimization

  • Lead planning of materials, manpower, and machinery based on monthly production schedules.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of plant resources including men, machines, and materials to enhance productivity.
  • Project quarterly manpower requirements and coordinate with HR for timely recruitment.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, safety norms, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure in-process QC checks and quality assurance procedures are strictly followed.
  • Prepare the plant for audits by local and international regulatory bodies.

Documentation & Approvals

  • Review and approve SOPs, BMRs, qualification protocols, and production-related documentation.
  • Oversee preparation and approval of reports such as MMRs, MPRs, and Stability Reports.

Cost Control & Budgeting

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and process efficiency.
  • Control WIP, wastage, downtime, and overheads to meet budgeted costs.

Team Management & Development

  • Allocate tasks to team members and ensure adequate supervision for achieving targets.
  • Foster training and development programs for production staff and operators.
  • Maintain high team morale and implement performance tracking systems.

Cross-functional Coordination

  • Liaise with Purchase, QA, R&D, Engineering, HR, and other relevant departments for seamless operations.
  • Ensure timely communication and resolution of interdepartmental issues.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly production and performance reports.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and implement corrective/preventive measures.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Achievement of production targets – monthly & annually
  • Final yield vs. raw material consumption
  • Plant downtime and maintenance efficiency
  • Cost per unit and overall cost control
  • Compliance score in internal and external audits
  • Interdepartmental coordination and workflow efficiency
  • Manpower utilization and employee productivity

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
  • Deep understanding of herbal/Ayurvedic manufacturing processes
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards (GMP, ISO, etc.)
  • Proficiency in production MIS and ERP systems
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
