Planning Engineer

The incumbent will lead the project planning & monitoring functions for the VISTAAR Expansion Project at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus, ensuring that all construction activities for academic blocks, laboratories, residential facilities, hostels and supporting infrastructure are completed within the approved timelines, budgets and quality benchmarks. This role demands strong technical planning expertise, cross-functional coordination and analytical reporting to support the Institute’s strategic infrastructure growth. The key responsibilities are as under:

Project Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain detailed master and micro schedules for all expansion works using Primavera P6 / MS Project.

• Establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), define dependencies and identify project milestones.

• Integrate design, tendering, procurement and construction timelines into a unified project plan.

• Prepare resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules aligned with approved budgets.

Progress Monitoring & Control

• Track and analyze daily, weekly and monthly progress against the baseline schedule.

• Conduct critical path and variance analysis to identify potential delays or bottlenecks.

• Recommend and implement corrective measures to maintain project timelines.

• Visit site regularly to verify physical progress and assess schedule adherence.

Cost and Resource Management

• Assist in preparing and monitoring project budgets and cash flows.

• Coordinate with procurement and finance teams to align material delivery and contractor payments with project schedules.

• Support the project management team in cost forecasting, productivity analysis and value engineering initiatives.

Coordination & Reporting

• Liaise with architects, consultants, PMCs, contractors and internal stakeholders for planning and schedule alignment.

• Conduct and document weekly progress review meetings and generate exception reports highlighting risks and corrective actions.

• Prepare comprehensive management dashboards, progress presentations and monthly reports for the BITS Pilani Project Office and Governing Committee.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain up-to-date planning documentation, including schedule baselines, revisions and change logs.

• Prepare and analyze Extension of Time (EOT) claims and delay justifications as needed.

• Ensure all planning deliverables comply with institutional and statutory norms.
