CompTIA Trainer – Job Description

Position Overview

A CompTIA Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students preparing for CompTIA certification exams such as A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, and others. The trainer guides learners through core IT concepts, practical skills, and exam-focused strategies to support career advancement in information technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (vILT), and/or blended learning sessions for CompTIA certifications.
• Teach foundational and advanced IT concepts including hardware, networking, cybersecurity, troubleshooting, and best practices.
• Develop lesson plans, course materials, lab exercises, slide decks, and assessments aligned to CompTIA exam objectives.
• Provide hands-on demonstrations using relevant tools, technologies, and simulations (e.g., virtual labs, command-line utilities, network configurations).
• Monitor student progress, evaluate performance, and provide individualized feedback and coaching.
• Maintain current knowledge of CompTIA exam updates, industry trends, tools, and training methodologies.
• Support learners with exam preparation techniques, study strategies, and practice tests.
• Collaborate with training coordinators, curriculum designers, and leadership to improve course delivery and student outcomes.
• Ensure a professional, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Required Qualifications

• Relevant CompTIA certifications (e.g., A+, Network+, Security+). Higher-level certifications (CySA+, CASP+, PenTest+) preferred for advanced courses.
• Practical experience in IT support, networking, cybersecurity, system administration, or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to facilitate both online and in-person classes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching or training experience (classroom, corporate training, or bootcamps).
• Additional industry certifications (Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, Google, etc.).
• Experience with LMS platforms, virtual lab environments, and training technology.
• Instructional design or curriculum development experience.
