Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities ● Comprehensive Eye Examinations: Perform detailed eye examinations to assess vision and identify refractive errors, ocular diseases, and other visual disorders. ● Diagnosis and Management: Diagnose and manage common eye conditions, providing appropriate treatment and referring complex cases to ophthalmologists as needed. ● Pre- and Post-Operative Care: Assist in the care of patients undergoing cataract, glaucoma, and other ocular surgeries. Patient Education ● Educate patients on maintaining optimal eye health, including preventive measures, lifestyle modifications, and regular follow-ups. ● Counsel patients about their eye conditions, treatment plans, and the importance of compliance with prescribed regimens. Collaboration and Teamwork ● Work closely with ophthalmologists, opticians, and support staff to deliver seamless, patient-centered care. ● Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and develop integrated care plans. Community Engagement ● Participate in community outreach programs, including eye screening camps and public awareness campaigns, as part of MGMEI’s mission to enhance access to quality eye care. Administrative Responsibilities ● Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. ● Ensure proper use and maintenance of optometric equipment and instruments. ● Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives, ensuring excellence in service delivery. Training and Development ● Mentor and train junior optometrists, interns, and allied healthcare professionals as required. ● Stay updated with advancements in optometry by attending workshops, conferences, and pursuing continuing education opportunities. Qualifications and Skills Educational Qualifications ● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optometry from a recognized institution. ● Certification in specialized areas of optometry (preferred). Experience ● Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a clinical or hospital-based optometry role (preferred). ● Experience in low-vision care, pediatric optometry, or specialized contact lenses will be an added advantage.
