Role : PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) | 5+ Years ExperienceLocation : GurgaonMode : WFO

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on expertise in managing, optimizing, and securing PostgreSQL databases in production environments. The ideal candidate should have experience in high-availability setups, performance tuning, backup/restore strategies, and full lifecycle database management. Experience with MongoDB and Redis is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain PostgreSQL databases across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and high-availability (HA/DR) solutions such as Streaming Replication, Logical Replication, Patroni, pgBackRest, etc.
  • Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and capacity planning.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, slow queries, locking issues, and resource bottlenecks.
  • Ensure database security, access control, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
  • Manage schema design, data modeling, and database refactoring.
  • Automate database tasks using Shell/Python scripts.
  • Maintain documentation for configurations and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, engineering, and product teams for performance improvements.
  • Optional : Administer MongoDB and Redis including replication, clustering, and performance tuning.

Mandatory Skills PostgreSQL

  • PostgreSQL administration (5+ yrs)
  • SQL performance tuning & query optimization
  • Indexing strategies, vacuum/analyze operations
  • Backup & Recovery (pg_dump, pgBackRest, WAL archiving)
  • High Availability & Replication (Streaming, Logical, Patroni)
  • PostgreSQL Security (RBAC, SSL/TLS)
  • Monitoring tools : pgAdmin, pgBadger, Prometheus, Grafana, pgbouncer
  • Database migrations & upgrades
