Role Purpose
The Regional Team Lead Tax Specialist is responsible for overseeing tax compliance and reporting activities across multiple countries within a region. This role acts as the primary point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external advisors, ensuring tax processes are executed accurately, timely, and in alignment with corporate policies and local regulations. The position involves leading a team of tax professionals, driving process improvements, and supporting strategic tax planning initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Regional Oversight: Manage and coordinate tax compliance (CIT, VAT/GST, withholding tax, transfer pricing) across all countries within the region.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, coach, and develop a team of tax specialists; allocate tasks and ensure knowledge sharing.
- Tax Reporting & Audits: Ensure accurate preparation and review of tax returns, reconciliations, and deferred tax calculations; lead responses to external and internal audits.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the main point of contact for local finance teams, auditors, consultants, and tax authorities.
- Process Improvement: Drive efficiency, automation, and harmonization of tax processes within the region.
- Governance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with internal controls, group policies, and global governance standards
Profile Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Graduate or post-graduate in Finance, Business, Commerce, or related field; professional tax qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, ADIT) is a plus.
- Proven experience of 8+ years in Tax/Accounting/Financial Reporting area.
- Strong understanding of financial principles and reporting standards.
System Skills
- Knowledge of ERP systems and SAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Functional Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of corporate income tax, indirect tax, and withholding tax; familiarity with transfer pricing and international tax frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities; ability to handle complex, cross-border tax issues.
Team Work
- Proven ability to manage, mentor, and motivate a team across multiple jurisdictions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders and senior management.
Other Skills
- Fluency in English; additional regional languages are an asset.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, culturally adaptable, and collaborative.
