Position Overview
The New Product Development (NPD) Executive will be responsible for driving and coordinating product development activities from concept to bulk production. This role will act as a key bridge between Sales/Management, vendors, Stores, and Production teams to ensure smooth and timely product development. The ideal candidate should have strong technical understanding of paper, glue, printing processes (offset and flexo), and packaging, along with excellent coordination and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development Coordination
Receive product development (PD) inquiries from Sales and Management, clearly understand specifications, cost targets, and timelines.
Translate conceptual requirements into actionable development briefs for vendors and internal teams.
Evaluate feasibility of new products and suggest alternatives or improvements where required.
2. Vendor Management
Coordinate closely with external vendors for sampling, testing, and approval processes.
Ensure vendors understand technical requirements regarding paper quality, glue types, printing specifications, and packaging standards.
Track development progress, follow up on timelines, and ensure timely delivery of samples.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Stores for sample materials, stock availability, and raw material checks.
Coordinate with Production to validate manufacturability, production readiness, and scaling from sample to bulk.
Align with Sales for customer expectations and approvals.
Update Management on development status, challenges, and timelines.
4. Documentation & Process Control
Maintain detailed documentation of product specifications, revision history, vendor communications, and approval stages.
Prepare and standardize technical sheets, BOMs, and production instructions for approved products.
Ensure smooth handover of finalized products to Production for mass manufacturing.
5. Quality & Compliance
Ensure that all developed products meet quality, functional, and aesthetic standards.
Conduct or coordinate sample testing for strength, print quality, adhesive performance, and durability.
Ensure compliance with internal QC requirements and customer-specific guidelines.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of paper grades, properties, and applications.
Knowledge of glue types, adhesion requirements, curing, and compatibility with substrates.
Familiarity with offset and flexo printing techniques, artwork guidelines, color standards, and finishing processes.
Good understanding of packaging materials, structural design, and manufacturing processes.
