About The Opportunity
Healthcare — Tertiary & specialty neurology services operating in the hospital and clinical care sector, delivering comprehensive neurological diagnosis, inpatient and outpatient care, emergency neurology and multidisciplinary management for patients across Northeast India. We are seeking an on-site, consultant-level neurologist to join a busy clinical team in Dibrugarh, Assam, focused on high-quality patient outcomes and service expansion.Role & Responsibilities
- Provide expert outpatient and inpatient neurological care: evaluate referrals, conduct focused neurological examinations, and formulate management plans for common and complex disorders (stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, neuropathies, demyelinating disease, neuroinfections).
- Lead acute neurology responses — manage stroke unit workflows, assess eligibility for IV thrombolysis, stabilise neuro-emergencies and coordinate with interventional teams and critical care.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures including EEG, EMG/NCS and lumbar puncture; collaborate with radiology for CT/MRI-based decision-making.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with neurosurgery, ICU, rehabilitation and allied teams to optimise continuity of care and patient discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, prescribe evidence-based therapies, and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and medicolegal standards.
- Contribute to teaching, mentoring junior doctors and trainees; support clinical audits, quality-improvement projects and departmental service development.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- DM (Neurology) or DNB (Neurology) qualification from a recognised institute.
- Valid Indian medical registration (NMC/State) and licence to practise in India.
- Demonstrated competence in acute stroke management and emergency neurology.
- Hands-on experience with EEG, EMG/NCS interpretation and performing lumbar punctures.
- Strong clinical decision-making, documentation skills and ability to work in high-volume on-site settings.
- Excellent communication skills in English; regional language proficiency (Assamese/Hindi) preferred for patient interactions.
Preferred
- Prior consultant experience in a tertiary hospital or stroke centre and exposure to neurocritical care.
- Experience with botulinum toxin injections, autonomic testing or neurophysiology lab oversight.
- Track record of teaching, publications or participation in clinical research and quality improvement projects.
