Your Impact

We are looking for a MySQL Database Developer who has strong hands-on experience in MySQL, along with solid backend fundamentals. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering team to design, optimise, and scale database systems that power high-growth, user-facing applications.

If you enjoy solving complex data problems, improving performance at scale, and building reliable systems, this role is for you.

• Design, develop, and maintain MySQL database schemas, queries, views, triggers, and stored procedures.
• Optimise database performance, including indexing, query tuning, caching, and load balancing.
• Work closely with backend engineers to integrate MySQL effectively within Node.js services.
• Contribute to backend development when required using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.js.
• Ensure data integrity, security, backups, and high availability
• Support system design discussions and propose scalable database solutions.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and drive root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve overall application performance.

What skills do you need?

• 3–6 years of dedicated hands-on experience with MySQL—including query writing, optimisation, schema design, and performance improvements.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts, normalisation, indexing strategies, and execution plans.
• Experience working on high-scale, high-growth product-based companies (mandatory).
• Ability to design efficient, scalable database structures for B2C applications.
• Strong analytical mindset—able to understand why a certain approach is more optimal, not just how to implement it.
• Experience working in fast-paced startup environments where performance and speed matter.
• Familiarity with database monitoring tools and performance dashboards.
• Experience optimising systems for speed, scalability, and reliability.

Good to have

• Exposure to backend development with Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Express.js.
• Experience with ORM tools like Sequelize.
• Knowledge of MongoDB, AWS RDS/Aurora, Redis, or caching layers.
• Understanding of CI/CD and basic DevOps concepts.
