Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management :

• Lead and manage a team of data scientists, AI specialists, data engineers & BI developers.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members.
• Orchestrate C-Level initiatives and make sure all strategic initiatives are aligned and coordinated.
• Regularly reviews progress and performance expectations with leadership teams across the organization, providing expectations, performance planning, feedback, training & development, and performance discussions.
• Plan and execute country roll out and implementation of strategic initiatives.
• Mentors, Coaches, and trains employees at various levels throughout the company.
• Lead by example in New-Ways-of-Working in line with Metro guiding principles.
  

Strategic Planning

• Develop and execute a comprehensive data and AI strategy aligned with the companys objectives.
• Identify opportunities for leveraging data and AI to drive business value.
• Define and implement a strategic roadmap for the CoE, aligning with the organization's goals and objectives to maximize the impact of data and AI.
• Establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) for Data and AI to drive best practices, foster innovation, and ensure the highest standards of quality across all data and AI initiatives.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate data and AI initiatives into the overall business strategy.
• Collaborate with Leadership at global Metro AG sites, conduct workshops to identify critical to business problems and convert them into projects.
  

Project Management

• End to end accountability from concept design of a business transformation (Data and AI Projects) to implementation.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  

Technical Expertise

• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science and AI technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
• Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance data and AI capabilities.
  

Data Governance And Compliance

• Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Experience

• 12+ years of experience in data science, artificial intelligence, or related fields.
• Proven experience in managing and leading data and AI teams.
• Demonstrated success in delivering complex data and AI projects.
  

Educational Qualification

• Minimum Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Graduate and Postgraduates.
  

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
• Strong understanding of cloud platform and org level implementation expertise.
