Merchandiser

Job Description:

The Sampling Coordinator is responsible for managing end-to-end garment sample development processes, ensuring that samples meet buyer expectations in terms of quality, fit, and timelines. The role involves close coordination with design, merchandising, procurement, tailoring, QA/QC, and production teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Receive and understand sample requirements from buyers, design, and merchandising teams.
• Plan and manage the development of all types of garment samples (e.g., fit, proto, photo, size set).
• Raise and follow up on fabric and trim orders (labels, buttons, threads, zippers, etc.) for sampling purposes.
• Coordinate with the procurement/store team to ensure timely availability of required materials.
• Supervise sampling tailors and ensure sample quality, fit, and finishing align with buyer specifications.
• Maintain and regularly update a sample tracking report with timelines and status updates.
• Document sample approvals and maintain accurate records for internal and buyer reference.
• Manage sampling inventory (fabrics, trims, accessories) efficiently and minimize wastage.
• Liaise with the production team to ensure a smooth transition from sample approval to bulk production.
• Collaborate with QA/QC teams for early-stage feedback and implement corrections as needed.
• Ensure timely dispatch of samples to buyers with proper packaging and labeling.

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, or Textile Engineering
• Prior experience in garment sampling coordination or a similar role
