About the Role:

Mandita BIM is looking for a highly skilled and relatively experienced Mechanical BIM Modeler to join our dynamic team. As a Mechanical BIM Modeler, you will not only play a key technical role in creating and managing advanced 3D BIM models for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection), but also act as a Team Lead for a team of Junior BIM modelers. Your leadership and technical expertise will be pivotal in the success of large-scale multidisciplinary projects, ensuring that all mechanical systems are accurately modeled, coordinated, and integrated with other building systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

• Lead and inspire a team of BIM modelers, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure project success and team development.
• Delegate tasks effectively and monitor progress to ensure project milestones and timelines are met.
• Foster a collaborative and positive team environment to encourage knowledge-sharing and creativity.

Project Management:

• Oversee and manage the overall BIM process from concept through design development to construction documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and according to client specifications.

BIM Implementation & Coordination:

• Develop, implement, and enforce BIM standards, protocols, and best practices across projects and teams.
• Conduct model coordination and clash detection sessions to resolve conflicts between mechanical and other building systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 19650), building codes, and project specifications.
• Maintain the BIM Execution Plan, ensuring consistency in model management and delivery.

Quality Assurance & Technical Expertise:

• Conduct quality control checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of BIM models with project specifications.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex modeling challenges and workflows.
• Promote innovative BIM solutions and stay updated on the latest technology and methodologies in BIM and mechanical engineering.

Collaboration & Client Engagement:

• Engage in client-facing activities to understand their needs, manage expectations, and provide updates on project progress.
• Lead cross-disciplinary coordination meetings, ensuring mechanical systems are integrated with other building systems and design disciplines.
• Facilitate and guide clash detection, resolution, and optimization across various design and construction teams.

Training & Development:

• Identify training needs for team members and organize skill development initiatives, including workshops, seminars, and hands-on training.
• Promote continuous improvement within the team, helping junior modelers advance their skills in BIM processes and software.

Automation & Programming:

• Support BIM content development and assist with automation tasks using tools like Dynamo, Python, or other custom scripts.
• Enhance modeling efficiency and design integration through programming and automation techniques.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Proven experience as a BIM modeler with a focus on mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) in the design and construction industry.
• Expertise in BIM software and other relevant BIM tools.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and HVAC design principles.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams, with exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Experience with cloud-based BIM collaboration platforms.
• Knowledge of BIM execution planning, model coordination, and clash detection.
• Ability to generate 3D models, shop drawings, and construction documentation from BIM models.
• Familiarity with Dynamo, Python, or other programming tools for automation is a plus.
• Experience working on international projects (especially in the US, UK, and the Middle East) is highly preferred.
• BIM Certification is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for problem-solving.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative team culture.

• Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges, especially related to mechanical systems in BIM models.
• Deep understanding of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient systems.
• Excellent time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with energy modeling and sustainable building certifications (e.g., LEED).
• A passion for continuous learning and staying at the forefront of technological advancements in BIM and construction.
