Manager - Procurement

As the Manager Procurement at Evonik India Pvt Ltd, your role will involve overseeing the procurement activities at the Catalyst plant in Thane and Dombivli. You will be responsible for procuring both direct and indirect items while adhering to the global Procurement policies. Your main objectives will include implementing measures under the India procurement strategy to optimize costs and ensure timely completion of deliverables. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage procurement activities at the Catalyst plant, overseeing both direct and indirect procurement. - Supervise 2 operational procurement colleagues, one for direct procurement and one for indirect procurement. - Procure and approve raw material, packing material, and items required for maintenance, projects, departments like QC, R&D, EHS, and administration. - Handle all works/labor contracts and waste disposal within the plant. - Prepare monthly MIS reports and present them to relevant teams. - Optimize costs through negotiations, discounts, and new sourcing within the policy framework. - Ensure no stock-outs and meet end-user department requirements. - Manage the Vendor Management process from initiation to trial phase. - Evaluate and monitor vendor performance regularly. - Provide inputs to colleagues in other entities and work on short-term procurement projects. - Support global business and category buying for the plant under the global buyer as needed. - Conduct onsite supplier audits and promote sustainability initiatives. **Qualification Required:** - An Engineering graduate with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical industry. A postgraduate degree is a plus. **Additional Skills and Abilities Required:** - Proficiency in SAP is essential. - Exposure to direct and indirect procurement is advantageous. - Technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and fluency in English are necessary. - Proficient in MS Office. - People management experience is beneficial. - Experience in managing multiple stakeholders. In addition to the above, your technical knowledge in manufacturing processes in chemical companies, experience with various types of contracts, understanding of the chemical supplier market for specialty chemicals, knowledge of handling exports/imports of chemicals, and experience in working with chemical products/plants will be advantageous for this role.,
