Job Summary:

Manager Payroll and Compliance

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Management

Manage accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees (monthly/bi-weekly).

Supervise payroll team members or outsourced payroll partners.

Reconcile payroll data and resolve any discrepancies related to salaries, benefits, and deductions.

Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.

Maintain confidentiality and integrity of payroll data.

Statutory Compliance

Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and statutory regulations including:

Provident Fund (PF)

Employee State Insurance (ESI)

Professional Tax (PT)

Income Tax (TDS)

Labour Welfare Fund (LWF)

Shops & Establishments Act, etc.

File accurate and timely returns to relevant government authorities.

Liaise with regulatory bodies for inspections, audits, and notices.

Audit & Reporting

Prepare payroll-related reports for internal and external audits.

Assist in internal/external audits and address any payroll-related queries.

Generate MIS reports and dashboards related to payroll and compliance.

Process Improvement & Systems

Implement and enhance payroll systems and automation tools.

Streamline payroll processes and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Ensure accurate employee records in HRMS and payroll software.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

Coordinate with payroll vendors, consultants, and legal advisors as necessary.

Work closely with HR, Finance, and Legal departments to ensure alignment on policies and payments.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.

MBA/PGDM or certification in Payroll Management is preferred.

610 years of relevant experience in payroll processing and compliance, including 2–3 years in a managerial role.

Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance.

Experience with HRMS/payroll software (e.g., SAP, ADP, Oracle, Zoho, GreytHR, etc.).

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

Prior experience in handling payroll for a large employee base is a plus.
