Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)

Job Summary The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all plant machinery, utilities, and equipment. The role involves preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to ensure minimal downtime and maximum productivity. Key Responsibilities Plan, execute, and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical breakdowns in rolling mills, furnaces, compressors, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Maintain records of equipment performance, maintenance logs, and spare parts inventory. Coordinate with production teams to ensure minimal machine downtime and support continuous operations. Supervise maintenance technicians, fitters, and helpers during daily and shutdown maintenance activities. Implement energy-saving and cost-optimization measures in maintenance operations. Liaise with external vendors and service providers for spare procurement, AMC, and specialized repairs. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, statutory requirements, and ISO standards. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and suggest engineering improvements. Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment, modification of existing setups, and plant upgradation projects. --- Skills & Competencies Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and OEM specifications. Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and documentation practices. Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
