Mainframe COBOL & DB2, analysis skillset & Production support

A Mainframe Professional job involves developing, maintaining, and supporting mainframe applications and systems, which includes writing and testing code in languages like COBOL, JCL, and PL/I, as well as troubleshooting issues and ensuring system performance and stability. Responsibilities often include collaborating with other teams, designing technical solutions, optimizing systems, and participating in the full software development lifecycle, from initial requirements to production support.

Core responsibilities

Application and system development:
Design, code, and test new applications and features for mainframe systems.
Maintenance and support:
Perform maintenance, updates, and modifications to existing applications to ensure they operate efficiently.
Troubleshooting and bug fixing:
Analyze and resolve technical issues, bugs, and performance problems in the mainframe environment.
Collaboration:
Work closely with business analysts, other developers, and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
System optimization:
Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement changes to improve efficiency and scalability.
Documentation:
Create and maintain technical documentation, user manuals, and system design specifications.
Testing:
Develop and execute test plans, including unit, system, and integration testing, to ensure the quality of changes.
