About the Role:

We are looking for a self-driven Magento Backend Developer who can independently manage our e-commerce backend while working closely with frontend developers, designers, and management. This is a solo contributor role with major responsibility for maintaining and scaling the Magento platform, integrating APIs, and managing backend-related coordination.

You’ll take full ownership of the backend system, ensure stability, and implement new features while also managing third-party integrations and aligning technical development with business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Backend Ownership (30%)

• Develop, customize, and maintain Magento 2 backend modules, APIs, and business logic.
• Optimize performance, improve loading speed, and troubleshoot backend issues.
• Work closely with React/Next.js frontend to ensure proper API connectivity and user flow.
• Handle database structuring, data migration, and backend-side business logic.

Backend Management & Coordination (70%)

• Act as the primary point of contact for all backend activities and integration needs.
• Manage third-party API integrations (payment gateways, CRMs, shipping providers, etc.).
• Document all backend processes, flows, and logic for internal tracking.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and the frontend team to understand project needs and deliver backend support accordingly.
• Maintain code hygiene, version control, and ensure deployment-readiness.

Tech Stack:

• Backend: Magento 2, PHP, MySQL
• Frontend (for coordination): React.js / Next.js
• Tools: Git, Jira/Asana, Postman
• Integrations: Payment gateways, shipping APIs, CRM, marketing tools

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands-on development experience with Magento 2 backend.
• Ability to independently handle Magento module development, troubleshooting, and deployment.
• Familiarity with frontend API needs in React / Next.js setups.
• Good understanding of REST/GraphQL APIs and database structures.
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively as a solo developer.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Nice to Have:

• Magento certification
• Experience with headless commerce
• Knowledge of caching strategies and performance tuning (Redis, Varnish, etc.)
