Job Title: Locomotive Safety Engineer

Exp: 3 to 7 Years

Notice Period: Immediate to start

Location: Europe/India

Department: Engineering / Safety & Compliance

Job Summary:

Locomotive Safety Engineer


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support

    system safety planning

    activities for locomotive projects.
  • Develop and maintain

    safety concepts

    and

    safety requirements

    throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Conduct

    hazard identification (HAZID)

    ,

    risk assessments

    , and

    failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA/FMECA)

    .
  • Perform

    safety analyses

    such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Event Tree Analysis (ETA), and Common Cause Analysis (CCA).
  • Prepare and maintain

    safety cases

    and associated documentation to demonstrate compliance with applicable safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, systems, validation, and operations to ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Support

    audits and assessments

    by regulatory bodies and certification authorities.
  • Ensure traceability of safety requirements and verification/validation evidence.
  • Stay updated with evolving safety standards and best practices in the rail industry.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in

    Electrical, Systems Engineering

    , or a related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 3–7 years) in

    railway safety engineering

    , preferably in locomotive or rolling stock projects.
  • Strong knowledge of

    railway safety standards

    (e.g., EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129).
  • Experience with

    safety analysis tools

    (e.g., Medini Analyze, FaultTree+, RAM Commander).
  • Familiarity with

    systems engineering principles

    and

    V-model development

    .
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.


Preferred Skills:

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards professional certification.
  • Experience with

    RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety)

    processes.
  • Knowledge of

    software safety

    and

    cybersecurity

    in railway systems.
  • Experience in

    interfacing with certification bodies

    and

    regulatory authorities

    .
