About the Function: Mumbai Mirror is a popular English-language tabloid published by The Times Group, known for its sharp focus on Mumbai’s local news, civic issues, and urban culture. Launched in 2005, it gained a strong readership for its bold, street-smart journalism. After halting its print edition in 2020 due to the pandemic, Mumbai Mirror is being relaunched as a daily print newspaper on June 15, 2025 , while also strengthening its digital presence. About the Position: We’re looking for an experienced legal reporter with a strong grasp of legal issues, court reporting, and the ability to break down complex legal matters for a wide audience. Prior experience in covering legal beats and handling sensitive topics with accuracy and depth is essential. Roles & Responsibilities: Report on legal developments from various courts (High Court, Sessions Court, Magistrate Courts, etc.) in Mumbai. Cover high-profile cases, public interest litigations, and legal reforms with accuracy and journalistic integrity. Build and maintain a network of sources including lawyers, legal experts, and court officials. Simplify complex legal jargon into engaging and understandable stories for print and digital platforms. Work closely with the editorial team to pitch, research, and file stories under tight deadlines. Ensure factual accuracy and compliance with journalistic ethics and media laws. Gather news, provide exclusive and exhaustive coverage on current Legal battles with the objective of ensuring that the paper doesn’t miss out on important stories and stands out. Qualifications & Skills Required: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Law, or related field; a background in legal studies is preferred. 5-7 years of experience covering legal affairs or court reporting. Strong understanding of Indian judiciary and legal terminology. Excellent writing, research, and investigative skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
