Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineering Lead to define, build, and scale quality engineering practices across multiple tech stacks—Java, PHP, Node.js, React, and mobile applications. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about building high-quality software and enabling teams to own quality at every stage of the development lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

Testing Strategy & Quality Engineering

• Define and implement a comprehensive test strategy covering unit, integration, contract, performance, and system-level testing.
• Promote a shift-left, developer-first quality approach across the entire SDLC.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve code testability and proactively reduce defects.
• Encourage the adoption of Specification by Example, contract testing, and property-based testing.

Test Infrastructure & Tooling

• Design and build scalable automation frameworks in Java, Node.js, or PHP.
• Create developer-friendly test harnesses, mock APIs, fake services, and in-memory databases for local and CI testing.
• Develop tooling to support dynamic test scenarios, test fixtures, and automated test doubles.
• Integrate testing processes into CI/CD pipelines for fast and reliable feedback.
• Improve test observability and root cause traceability in distributed systems.

Developer Enablement

• Build and document local testing environments that mirror CI and production setups.
• Provide APIs and libraries for deterministic and reproducible test states.
• Lead by example in writing high-quality test code, using effective mocking strategies, and fixture-driven testing.
• Develop sandbox environments for safe testing of edge cases, performance limits, and resilience scenarios.

Practice Development & Leadership

• Mentor engineers on advanced test design, TDD, and BDD.
• Promote a culture where quality is a shared responsibility across teams.
• Lead workshops, retrospectives, and technical deep dives focused on improving test systems.
• Collaborate with DevOps, product, and architecture teams to evolve test infrastructure and deployment processes.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Skills

• Strong programming skills in Java, Node.js, or PHP.
• Proven experience building test frameworks, developer tools, or testing libraries.
• Hands-on experience with REST API testing, contract testing, and service virtualization.
• Familiarity with tools such as JUnit, TestNG, Jest, Jasmine, Karma, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or WireMock.
• Experience with mocking frameworks, test doubles, and controlled data generation.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code using Docker, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to design testable systems.
• Ability to influence system architecture for better testability and observability.
• Proven track record of mentoring and enabling engineering teams to adopt quality best practices.
