Job Description

1) Role summary

Diagnose, repair, and maintain laptops, desktops, and peripherals; ensure fast turnaround, accurate documentation, and high first-time-fix rates. Covers hardware, OS, drivers, networking basics, and preventive maintenance for internal users and/or client sites.

2) Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose & repair hardware (motherboard, RAM, storage, display, keyboard, battery, power, cooling).
  • OS install/reinstall, driver updates, patching, imaging/cloning; backup/restore.
  • Troubleshoot boot issues, BSODs, performance bottlenecks, app conflicts.
  • Replace components: SSD/HDD, RAM, keyboard, hinges, fans, thermal paste, DC jack, Wi-Fi cards, screens, batteries.
  • Preventive maintenance: cleaning, thermal management, BIOS/firmware updates, SMART checks, health reports.
  • Configure devices (Windows/macOS/Linux basics), user profiles, antivirus/EDR, common enterprise apps.
  • Basic networking: adapter/driver, IP/DHCP, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, VPN basics.
  • Log tickets; manage parts inventory; handle RMA/warranty with OEMs.
  • Ensure ESD safety, data privacy, secure media handling; e-waste norms.
  • On-site support for classrooms/training labs (if applicable): projector/AV, printers, scanners.
  • User education; document SOPs/checklists/FAQs.

3) Qualifications & experience

  • ITI/Diploma in Computer Hardware/Networking or Graduate with equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years hands-on laptop/desktop repair (strong freshers considered).

4) Skills & competencies

  • Solid hardware diagnostics; board-level awareness (soldering a plus).
  • Windows install/licensing/GPO basics; macOS fundamentals; Linux basics.
  • Imaging tools (Clonezilla/MDT), backup, partitioning, data-recovery basics.
  • Device Manager & PowerShell basics; BIOS/UEFI config; firmware updates.
  • Ticketing (Jira/ServiceNow/Freshservice) and strong documentation.
  • Customer service mindset; clear communication; time management.

5) Tools & equipment

  • Multimeter, ESD strap/mat, precision toolkit, thermal paste, spudgers.
  • External boot media, imaging tools, USB-SATA adapters, spare HDD/SSD/RAM.
  • Diagnostics (SMART, MemTest), OEM tools, antivirus/EDR consoles.

6) Certifications (good to have)

  • CompTIA A+ / N+, OEM (Dell/HP/Lenovo/Apple ACiT), Microsoft MCP/MCSA basics.

7) KPIs

  • First-time-fix rate; TAT; SLA compliance; repeat-fault rate (30-day); ticket documentation completeness; user CSAT/NPS.

8) Compliance & safety

  • ESD/electrical safety; licensed software; data-protection & secure erase SOPs; e-waste disposal.

9) Working conditions

  • Shift/after-hours during rollouts; visits to centres/client sites; safe lifting/handling up to ~15 kg.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
