Laboratory Technician

The Lab Technician cum Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other biological samples from patients, preparing them for testing, conducting laboratory investigations, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, patient handling skills, and strong technical knowledge of diagnostic procedures. Key ResponsibilitiesPhlebotomy & Sample Collection Collect blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other specimens from patients with proper technique and safety measures. Label, store, and transport samples as per protocol. Ensure patient comfort and safety during sample collection. Laboratory Work Perform routine diagnostic tests (biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, etc.). Operate and maintain lab instruments and equipment. Prepare reagents and solutions as required for testing. Maintain quality control and calibration records. Reporting & Documentation Enter test results into the laboratory information system (LIS). Prepare and validate lab reports before releasing. Maintain accurate patient and laboratory records. Compliance & Safety Follow biosafety and infection control guidelines. Dispose of biomedical waste as per norms. Ensure confidentiality of patient data. Coordination & Support Assist doctors and pathologists in advanced diagnostic procedures. Coordinate with patients, clinics, and collection centers for smooth workflow. Provide technical support for health camps and home collections when required. Key Skills RequiredExpertise in phlebotomy and specimen handling. Knowledge of laboratory techniques and diagnostic equipment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and patient care skills. Ability to work under pressure and in shifts. Qualifications & ExperienceEducation: Diploma / B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT / BMLT) or equivalent. Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory or diagnostic center (freshers with strong skills may also apply). Certification: Phlebotomy training/certification preferred.
