Job Title: Senior Lab Technician Department: Laboratory Services Reporting to: Lab Manager / Pathologist / Center Head Job Summary:The Senior Lab Technician is responsible for supervising day-to-day laboratory operations, conducting advanced diagnostic tests, ensuring quality control and safety, and guiding junior technicians. They ensure timely, accurate, and efficient reporting of test results while maintaining all regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:Sample Management: Supervise and perform sample collection, labeling, processing, and storage. Ensure proper handling and disposal of biological samples. Testing & Analysis: Conduct a wide range of pathology and diagnostic tests (e.g., biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, clinical pathology). Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and analyzers. Validate and verify test results before reporting. Quality Assurance: Maintain internal quality controls (IQC) and participate in external quality assurance (EQA) programs. Ensure calibration and maintenance logs are up to date. Team Supervision: Train, mentor, and monitor junior lab technicians and phlebotomists. Schedule shifts and ensure smooth functioning of lab operations. Compliance: Adhere to NABL/NABH/ISO or other applicable regulatory standards. Maintain patient confidentiality and safety protocols. Reporting: Coordinate with doctors, consultants, and patients regarding urgent or abnormal reports. Ensure timely entry and dispatch of reports. Qualifications:B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or related field Minimum 4–6 years of experience in a diagnostic lab or hospital setup Familiarity with automated lab equipment and LIS (Laboratory Information Systems) Key Skills:Strong technical and analytical skills Leadership and team management Attention to detail and accuracy Good communication and interpersonal skills Familiarity with safety protocols and infection control
