Location: On-site — Dhulagarh–Sankrail Industrial Park, Howrah (West Bengal)

Experience:Minimum 5 years in a Mechanical Testing Lab (must-have)

Education: Diploma / B.Tech (Mechanical/Metallurgy preferred)

Employment Type: Full-time

Official Working Hours:9:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Monday–Saturday)

Commute Requirement (Must-have): Must be able to commute to our plant daily with a travel time of maximum ~1–2 hours.

About the role

We’re looking for a hands-on Lab Assistant to support day-to-day mechanical testing and quality documentation for our steel/fastener products. You’ll ensure test accuracy, equipment readiness, and timely reporting to production & QA.

What you’ll do

• Conduct routine mechanical tests: tensile/UTS (UTM), hardness, impact, bend tests, etc.
• Prepare and identify samples; maintain traceability from receipt to report.
• Operate & care for lab equipment; calibration scheduling and basic troubleshooting.
• Record results, generate Test Certificates (TC/MTC), and maintain digital logs.
• Comply with IS/ASTM/ISO methods; support internal & external audits (e.g., ISO/NABL).
• Coordinate with Production & QA for incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
• Maintain inventory of lab consumables; uphold 5S and safety standards.

Must-haves

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Mechanical Lab (metals/steel/fasteners preferred)
• .Computer knowledge is mandatory — comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets, email, LIMS/data entry, and basic report formatting
• .Working knowledge of UTM, hardness/impact testers, gauges & standard test methods
• .Willingness to work on the shop floor (within the factory) as required, follow PPE/safety protocols, and handle sample prep/handling

Good to hav

• Exposure to metallography (microstructure), OES/spectrometer basics, coating thickness, torque–tension tests.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025/NABL systems and documentation
• Strong attention to detail, housekeeping, and safety mindset
• Ability to work independently on shifts when required

• You cannot commute daily to Dhulagarh–Sankrail Industrial Park within ~1–2 hours one-way.
• You are not comfortable with computers (Excel/Google Sheets, emails, basic data entry).
• You are unwilling to work on the shop floor (factory field work) or follow PPE/safety protocols.
