Job Description THE ROLE At Bombay Sweet Shop, we are reimagining traditional Indian snacks with a modern twist. From iconic chaats to seasonal street food-inspired dishes, our savory menu is a celebration of Indian flavors, and we need a talented Jr. Sous Chef or Senior CDP – Indian Cuisine to help bring this vision to life. In this role, you will work closely with the Sous Chef to execute, innovate, and elevate our savory menu. You will be responsible for leading sections during service, training junior staff, and contributing to the development of new dishes. Who You Are You are an experienced chef with a strong foundation in Indian savory cooking, and you have a genuine love for exploring traditional flavors and modern interpretations. You are creative, organized, and thrive in a high-energy kitchen environment. You have a keen eye for detail and are committed to maintaining consistency and quality across every dish. With at least 2-3 years of experience in Indian cuisine, particularly in a fast-paced, high-quality kitchen, you are ready to take on a leadership role, guide junior staff, and contribute to the innovation of a unique culinary experience. YOUR TEAM You will be part of the savory kitchen team at Bombay Sweet Shop, working alongside a passionate group of chefs and cooks. Together, you will collaborate across different kitchen sections, including pastry, packaging, and FOH, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional dishes from start to finish. Who You Will Report To You will report directly to the Sous Chef – Bombay Sweet Shop, with regular collaboration with the Executive Chef and the wider Hunger Inc. culinary team. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR Culinary Execution Prepare and plate a variety of Indian savory dishes—from chaats to seasonal snacks—ensuring precision, consistency, and the highest standards of quality. Follow recipes and ensure every dish aligns with our taste and presentation guidelines. Menu Development Work alongside the Sous Chef to develop new dishes, incorporating both traditional techniques and modern twists on regional Indian flavors. Suggest innovative ideas that complement the existing menu while staying true to our culinary vision. Kitchen Management Oversee mise en place and manage service in your section, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. Maintain inventory, ensure ingredient freshness, and minimize food waste. Training & Leadership Mentor and guide junior staff, helping them improve their skills in cooking techniques, plating, and flavor balancing. Lead by example, maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere in the kitchen. Compliance & Hygiene Ensure all kitchen practices comply with FSSAI standards for food safety and hygiene. Monitor allergen protocols and enforce safety procedures within the team. Collaboration Work closely with the FOH and packaging teams to ensure timely, accurate delivery of dishes and a smooth kitchen-to-service workflow. Assist with daily briefings and service preparation to ensure everyone is aligned on priorities. Skills & Qualifications Culinary diploma/degree or equivalent experience. 2-3 years of experience working in Indian cuisine as a CDP or Jr. Sous Chef, preferably from a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong knowledge of Indian spices, regional cuisines, and cooking techniques. Proven ability to manage a team and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen. Creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for high-quality Indian food. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
