What does a successful API Developer do?

A successful API Developer in our BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) Fintech IT organization is responsible for leading the API development team, overseeing multiple technical projects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure APIs. They play a critical role in shaping the technical strategy, fostering a collaborative team environment, and driving innovation. Key responsibilities include:

• Technical Leadership:

  Provide strong technical leadership and vision for the API development team.

• Project Management

  :
  Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple API projects, ensuring they meet business requirements and deadlines

• Integration Strategy:

  Develop and implement strategies for integrating APIs with various systems and applications.

• Team Collaboration:

  Foster a collaborative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, architects, developers, and QA teams

• Quality Assurance:

  Ensure the quality, performance, and security of APIs through rigorous testing and optimization.

• Mentorship:

  Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, promoting best practices and continuous learning.

What you will do:

• Development Efforts:

• Manage Projects:

• Collaborate and Coordinate:

• Optimize and Secure:

  Continuously monitor and optimize APIs for performance and security, implementing best practices and addressing any issues that arise.

• Document and Standardize:

  Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation, establish coding standards, and ensure adherence across the development team.

• Mentor Team Members:

  Provide mentorship and support to junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

• Drive Innovation:

  Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, and integrate them into the development process to enhance efficiency and innovation.

What you will need to have:

• Education:

  Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Experience:

  5 - 11 years of experience in API development, with significant experience in the BFSI or fintech sector and a proven track record in managing teams and leading technical projects.
• Expert proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices.
• Extensive experience with API management tools and platforms (e.g., Postman, Swagger, Apigee).
• Advanced knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth, JWT).
• Expertise in database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL.

• Project Management Skills:

  Proven experience in managing multiple technical projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.

• Leadership Skills:

  Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire developers.

• Soft Skills:
