You will align and report your progress to the assigned Quality Controller, Team Leader and as necessary the office Manager. You will ensure quality issues are identified and trained out of production as they occur (quality at the source) and not exclusively during inspection. You will divide your day between training and evaluating team members and inspecting product. You will ensure necessary training is developed and deployed effectively across the project team to remove defects and reduce re-work (back-drafting). You will maintain an awareness of back-drafting hours as a percentage of project hours.You will perform your responsibilities in an exemplary manner, setting an example for all employees as it pertains to Dowco Total Quality Management. You will effectively participate in all relevant company programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives as they relate to your area of responsibility.
Job Duties
- Comply with requirement of design drawings and create early IQ’s to ensure production progresses is unhindered.
- Responsible for checking modeling, connecting and shop/Field editing drawings.
- Understand project finishes, sequencing, design, fabrication and install requirements and ensure required awareness by all team members.
- Ensure customer and industry standards are being adhered to.
- You will maintain a thorough understanding of customer standards and be responsible to ensure team understand and respects.
- Monitoring project “risks” within ReqX, ensuring all team members are aware and conforming
- Comprehensive understanding of project design and areas of complexity. You will guide the team through these areas and request assistance from QC when necessary.
- Exercise your experience to ensure potential constructability issues are addressed i.e. fabrication, erection and shipping of complex and oversized members.
- Ensure all answered RFI’s are incorporated into final product prior to issuance for approval or fabrication.
- Participate in all sprint and project meetings to ensure full understand of challenges and changing requirements.
- Responsible for checking completeness of all change order (EWO) associated work.
- Assisting Team Leader with checking workflow and schedules.
Dowco Consultants Ltd
- Check all drawings using the ECM stamps. Verify the ECM system is reporting for specific project and files can be opened through system. Report any technical issues to management.
- Reporting deficiencies in work quality and enforcing Dowco QCP and Total quality management
Scope Of Authority
Enforce training when and where necessary to ensure quality objectives are realized. Issue non-conformance to Dowco production employees and any suppliers (detailing or connection designers). Fully understand, improve, and adhere to Dowco quality systems. Discipline team members when performance does not improve. Make recommendation for improving Dowco quality systems
Experience & Qualifications
A thorough understanding of steel detailing and strong math skills. Spatial visualization awareness and a comprehensive understanding of industry business practices in detailing, engineering, and fabrication. The willingness to develop knowledge relevant to the structural steel industry. Organized with a high level of communication both written and verbal. Strong design knowledge and excellent attention to detail. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Possesses excellent people skills, is a good communicator, and a motivational leader. You are proactive and a logical thinker who takes initiative to solve problems early. You can perform your duties with a minimal amount of supervision.
