Job Summary
The Quality Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective quality systems to ensure that all pressure cookers and non-stick cookware products meet BIS standards, ISO requirements, statutory regulations, and customer expectations. The role requires expertise in QMS, product certifications, process audits, and continual improvement initiatives to drive product safety, compliance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Systems & Certifications
- Establish, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
- Ensure compliance with BIS certification requirements (ISI mark for pressure cookers & non-stick cookware).
- Coordinate with certification bodies, government agencies, and auditors for product approvals and renewals.
- Drive compliance to statutory and regulatory requirements related to cookware safety.
- Product Quality & Compliance
- Develop and enforce quality control plans, SOPs, and inspection standards for raw materials, in process, and finished goods.
- Oversee testing of products (safety valve, gasket, coating adhesion, thickness, leakage, durability, etc.) as per BIS and company standards.
- Ensure defect-free, safe, and reliable products reach the customer.
- Maintain documentation for traceability and product recalls if required.
- Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits (BIS, ISO, customer audits).
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) for customer complaints and non-conformances.
- Implement Lean, Kaizen, or Six Sigma practices for process improvements.
- Team Management & Training
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality Assurance/Quality Control team
- Conduct training on quality awareness, BIS/ISO standards, and compliance requirements for production and QA staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and zero-defect mindset.
- Supplier & Customer Quality
- Develop supplier quality assurance systems; conduct supplier audits.
- Collaborate with procurement for vendor approval and raw material quality control.
- Manage customer complaints, feedback analysis, and ensure timely resolution.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of BIS standards for pressure cookers and non-stick cookware.
- Proficient in ISO 9001:2015 QMS implementation.
- Knowledge of product testing protocols (pressure tests, coating tests, safety compliance).
- Experience in handling regulatory audits and certifications.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- MBA and Bachelors degree in mechanical / metallurgical / industrial engineering (preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Quality Management in cookware, kitchenware, or metal product manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with BIS, ISO, QMS compliance and audits.
- Exposure to non-stick coating processes, pressure cooker safety requirements, and metal forming is desirable.
